Orthotics are custom made devices that are used to correct a variety of
problems in the foot and ankle.
Orthotics can be of significant benefit to you, but they aren’t a“cure” for your problems. It would be foolish for us to “guarantee” results from orthotics. What they do attempt to do is to correct biomechanical insufficiencies.
TODAY, an impression of both feet will be taken. From that impression, a mold of your feet is made. Your orthotics are madefrom that mold by an outside lab.
Among those problems most commonly treated with orthotics are:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Flat feet (pes planus)
- High arches (pes cavus)
- Metatarsalgia
- Hallux rigidus
- Hallus valgus
- Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction
- Achilles problems
The way that your feet hit the ground can also effect your knees and hips, so sometimes orthotics are used to treat problems there as well.
Regardless of your problem, we will likely construct orthotics for both feet. This is necessary to avoid creating a leg length discrepancy.
When the base product returns from the lab (in about 10-14 days), we will begin finishing the product and contact you for a return appointment.
You will leave from that next appointment with your nearly finished orthotics. Subsequent visits to our clinic may be necessary to achieve optimal results.
For most orthotics we do, we need you to return in 2-4 weeks so that we might cover the bottom with leather. This prolongs their life.
With simple care, your orthotics should last for quite some time. Occasionally, clean with a light brush and mild soap. Take care not to soak the orthotic.
