Appalachian Therapy Center is the recognized leader in the region for the delivery of athletic
health care services. Our programs extend from the elite and professional, to the college star,
to the high school player, to the recreational athlete.

Services available through ATC include:

Walk-in Evaluations
Any high school or college athlete at schools that we serve may visit any of our offices for an injury evaluation at no charge any weekday morning at 7am.

Game/Event Coverage
Our trainers stay busy year round, but the fall and winter are our busiest. We cover over 250 athletic events during any given school year!

Student Trainer Program

Because we can’t be everywhere, all the time, we have a very active student trainer program. These students attend a week-long camp in the summer and attend regular meetings and in-services.

“Sports Update” is the name of our sports newsletter. Twice a month, you can receive up-to-date information about athletic health care issues and how to obtain the medical assistance you need.

Pre-Season Physicals

Each year, Appalachian Therapy center coordinates the free pre-participation physicals for over 700 local athletes. The Blount county medical community is very generous with their time in offering this valuable service.

Communications

It seems a simple matter, yet adequate communication is an essential ingredient in emergency care. Each of our trainers carries a medical two-way radio and a cellular phone to insure prompt professional attention and transport of the more severe injuries.

School Visits

Throughout the school year, a certified athletic trainer visits each of Blount County's four high schools. The frequency depends on the needs of that school. Hours in the high school training rooms are announced so that we can be available to all coaches and teams.

TREATMENT PROGRAMS are provided by ATC in a variety of ways.

Saturday Morning Clinic

During football season, we open the office for any injured athlete.

Extra Hours

Throughout the year, we see athletes any time, depending on what they need to get better.  We keep regular hours 8-6, Monday through Friday at our main office and from 7-8 AM on Monday, Wednesday  and Friday in the Training Room at Maryville College. If your athlete needs to be seen in the evening–we’re there. If it’s Saturday and Sunday–we’re there.

Game/Event Coverage

Home or Away. Fall, winter, and spring. Our trainers stay busy year round, but the fall and winter are our busiest. We cover over 250 athletic events during any given school year!

SPORTS REHAB
at Appalachian Therapy Center means World Class treatment. Great facilities, great equipment, and great personnel. Our goal in Sports Rehab is to return the athlete to their sport or activity as quickly as possible, never forgetting their long term health.
Most of these programs are provided at no charge to local teams, coaches, and athletes. However, when an athlete is referred here by their doctor for treatment or rehab, we reserve the right to bill for those services.

Each spring, we host a golf tournament to raise funds for the training rooms at local high schools.  Some supplies may be paid for out of those funds, but supplies for individual athletes are generally the responsibility of that individual.

Most school insurance is “secondary” coverage.   What that means is that, in most cases, your insurance must be filed first for all medical services. Once you receive your EOB (Explanation Of Benefits), you may be able to bill the school’s secondary coverage.
