
WOUND CARE: 1 on 1 at Appalachian Therapy Center is a program of wound healing treatments that employs a multi-disciplinary approach that includes Physical Therapists & Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists & Occupational Therapists Assistants, Physicians and Nurses, working together to provide quality wound care and wound prevention education.
WOUND CARE: 1 on 1 utilizes the most modern of technology. Current treatments are well beyond the days of classic topicals. Indeed, current debriding agents offer a far greater opportunity for wound resolution.
WOUND CARE: 1 on 1 employs treatments which go well beyond traditional whirlpool.
These include
- Enzymatic, sharp, and mechanical debridement
- Segmental compression therapy
- Individualized splinting and orthotics for pressure relief
- Custom pressure garments, particularly useful for burn patients and in treatment of lymphedema and venous stasis
- Utilization of current medical breakthroughs in biologic and genetic technology
WOUND CARE: 1 on 1 is directed by health care professionals that are trained and experienced in the treatment of a variety of wound problems.
These include, but are not limited to:
- diabetic foot ulcers
- venous stasis ulcers
- burns, and
- acute & chronic wounds such as non-healing surgical incisions and wounds resulting from trauma
Whitney Sharp, PT brings a wealth of experience to the role of Program Director of WOUND CARE: 1 on 1. She has worked in a variety of professional settings, including acute care and wound management facilities. She is a graduate of the Physical Therapy program at the University of Louisville.
Candy Robinson PTA, Co-director of the WOUND CARE PROGRAM, is a graduate of South College, joined Appalachian Therapy Center in the fall of 2000. She brings six years of experience in acute and trauma wound care.
Christy McGill PTA, has been with Appalachian Therapy Center since March 2006. Christy has worked in acute wound care since graduating from South College in 1998.
Both Candy and Christy are responsible for most of the hands on treatment and debridement of wounds.
